Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington is proud to announce that two outstanding community arts organisations in the electorate have been successful in securing funding through the new Regional Community Arts Program (RCAP), a key part of the Crisafulli Government’s plan to deliver for Queensland’s thriving arts sector.
RCAP is a new initiative designed to prioritise community‑led, volunteer‑driven artsorganisations in regional Queensland. As part of Queensland’s Time to Shine, the Government’s 10‑year strategy to strengthen and grow the arts, RCAP will support high‑quality arts and cultural activities that enrich local communities and rely heavily on volunteer commitment.
Somerset Art Society Inc. has been awarded $20,000 in RCAP Project Funding to support its New Horizons at The Condensery project, which will provide artists and artworkers with professional development opportunities through education programs, mentorships and guided conceptual development, culminating in a high‑quality exhibition.
South Burnett Community Orchestra Association Inc. a volunteer‑run organisation dedicated to developing the musical skills of regional musicians and providing performance opportunities across the South Burnett, has been awarded $50,000 in two‑year core funding.
“I’m incredibly proud to see two of our local community arts organisations recognised through this new program,” Deb said.
“This investment will assist our community‑based groups to continue delivering meaningful arts experiences for people right across our region.”
“Dedicated volunteers contribute significant time and effort to regional arts organisations, and this funding will provide them with much‑needed support as they continue to grow, innovate and attract wider audiences.” Minister for the Arts, John‑Paul Langbroek, said the new funding program is a key priority for the Crisafulli Government’s 10‑year arts and culture strategy, Queensland’s Time to Shine
