About the Electorate of Nanango

The State Electorate of Nanango has some 31 towns and 31 communities and covers some 13,800 square kilometres. From Brisbane, it is the inland gateway to the rest of Queensland.

The people who reside in the Nanango electorate are in Deb's unbiased opinion the luckiest in the State. Our region is blessed with some of the finest prime agricultural lands, tourism opportunities, natural resources and industry - but most importantly resilient and easy-going people.

The Electorate of Nanango covers parts of four regional council areas including:

Whilst all these areas produce fine crops the electorate also produces some of the State’s best beef and pork.

Our agricultural industry is supported with processing to market of the products grown in the region, these industries are vital to our economy, Kingaroy boasts two peanut processing plants; Crumpton’s and PCA. Plus there’s Swickers - Australia’s largest pork processor. We are also proud to call our own the beef abattoir of Kilcoy Pastoral Company which is the electorate’s largest employer. Agriculture is the lifeblood of the electorate.

The Electorate of Nanango provides a low-cost holiday destination with an abundance of tourism opportunities from fishing to camping, game hunting, four wheel driving at Jimna, water sports, Country Race Days, Festivals, wineries, bush walking or farm stays. It is a family-friendly desintation within easy reach of Brisbane

Importantly, the Electorate also takes in two of South-East Queensland's major water sources - Somerset and Wivenhoe Dams.

Deb's electorate has 39 schools including three private schools:
