Federal Government’s bushfire assistance grants available to Somerset primary producers

2nd March 2020

Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington is pleased that primary producers in the Somerset who were affected by the recent devastating bushfires have access to grants of up to $75,000.

When Mrs Frecklington became aware that Somerset was excluded from the activated areas for the Emergency Bushfire Response in Primary Industries Grant she wrote to Federal Minister for Emergency Management, David Littleproud, urging the Federal Government to reconsider this decision.

“The bushfires have impacted producers across the Somerset, from Jimna and Kilcoy, to Ravensbourne and Esk and Wivenhoe Pocket. It was disappointing that these producers could not access the same level of assistance as
their southern cousins in NSW and Victoria,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“It is fantastic news to hear from Federal Minister David Littleproud that Somerset is now included in the bushfire assistance grants. This funding will certainly help impacted farmers get back on track with their businesses and in turn will help the communities too.

“The Federal Government is showing their support to our farmers by providing this vital financial assistance and I would encourage all impacted farmers to apply for the grants”.
