Deb Delivers for South Burnett in 2025 Budget

25th June 2025

Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington, has welcomed key investments in the 2025–26 Crisafulli Government Budget that will deliver real outcomes for the South Burnett, supporting local infrastructure, community safety, healthcare, and recreational facilities.

The Budget lays the foundation for a fresh start for Queenslanders, addressing pressing issues including youth crime, health, housing, and the cost of living. It includes a comprehensive law and order response with 1,600 new police recruits, stronger laws, better resourced courts, and enhanced early intervention and rehabilitation programs.

“Our local police do an incredible job, and this Budget backs them with the laws, tools, and personnel they need to keep our communities safe.” Said Deb

Healthcare services in the South Burnett will also benefit, with funding for a new helipad at Kingaroy Hospital to replace the ageing landing surface and ensure faster, safer emergency transfers when every second counts.  An investment in Murgon Hospital will help improve service delivery for local patients, while additional health workers and system-wide support aim to reduce elective surgery wait times and improve access to care.

To ease cost-of-living pressures, the Budget includes a $100 Back to School Boost for every primary school student to help cover the cost of essential supplies, and the $200 Play On! Sports Voucher Program to make community sport more affordable and accessible for Queensland families.

Water security for South Burnett’s primary producers is also being prioritised, with the next stage of planning for Barlil Weir now underway. This project, a key election commitment from the Crisafulli Government, is vital to supporting the long-term needs of local agriculture following years of inaction under Labor.  Biosecurity has also received a boost with more frontline staff.

A smaller but meaningful win for the local community, $150,000 for the long-awaited Wooroolin Skate Park.

“This is a project I’ve proudly supported for many years, alongside the local kids who’ve consistently advocated for it. It’s proof that when governments listen, great things can happen for our communities.”

“These projects are not just investments in infrastructure—they are investments in the people and potential of our region,” she said.

“This is a Budget that delivers for the South Burnett—supporting our families, strengthening frontline services, and backing our region’s future after years of neglect under Labor,” Deb said.

“This Budget backs the South Burnett and puts our region firmly back on the priority list”.

The 2025–26 Crisafulli Government Budget sets Queensland on a responsible path to repair—funding the services and infrastructure Queenslanders need while restoring economic stability and delivering a fresh start for our state.
