Long list of Labor fails puts Queensland behind the rest

16th May 2019

The LNP has revealed shocking examples of Labor’s economic mismanagement, ahead of next month’s state budget.

Shadow Treasurer Tim Mander moved a motion in Parliament today condemning the Palaszczuk Labor Government for their waste, tax obsession and wrong priorities.

Mr Mander said the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s record is appalling and they don’t have a plan to fix it.

“Queensland’s unemployment rate is the second worst in the country, wages aren’t going up and the cost of living has sky-rocketed all because of Labor,” Mr Mander said.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk is out of touch and she’s completely lost support from the business sector as well.

“The Sensis Business Index puts the Palaszczuk Labor Government as the least popular among small to medium business owners.

“Queensland has also become the strike-capital of Australia, while 18 thousand jobs have been stripped from the manufacturing sector.

“The list of Labor fails goes on and on.

“$2.2 billion has been ripped from the economy, thanks to Labor’s five new taxes.

“Treasurer Jackie Trad is clueless with balancing the books and couldn’t even forecast a $1.3 billion-dollar budget blunder.

“The Palaszczuk Labor Government can’t be trusted to fix the economy, create jobs, improve the health system or bust congestion.

“Tonight the LNP called on the Palaszczuk Labor Government to put petty politics aside in the forthcoming budget and adopt our plans which will get Queensland on the right path.

“Jackie Trad must guarantee no new taxes and fix Labor’s transport crisis.

“Labor must fund a second M1, upgrade the Bruce Highway, commit to the Sunshine Coast rail line duplication and deliver the Mackay Ring Road stage 2.

“We also believe our kids deserve the best learning environment possible and Labor should air-condition every state school classroom.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk’s priorities are all wrong and Queenslanders are far worse off, since she became Premier.

“Only the LNP has a plan to make Queensland an economic powerhouse by creating jobs, investing in infrastructure projects, busting congestion, funding more hospital beds and ensuring no new taxes.

“Queenslanders are sick of suffering a hit to the hip pocket and the LNP is committed to putting an end to Labor’s shocking habit of wasting taxpayers’ money.”
