Finally, some light at the end of tunnel for Galilee Basin

31st May 2019

LNP Leader Deb Frecklington today welcomed the long awaited approval of Adani’s Black Throated Finch Management Plan after years of delay and obfuscation by the Palaszczuk Labor Government.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk’s bitterly divided government has done all it can to stop new mines and destroy jobs in the resources industry but I am glad common sense is prevailing in this case,” Ms Frecklington said.

“Adani has cleared every major environmental hurdle for the past eight years and finally there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

“Make no mistake, this is bigger than just the Adani project, the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s anti-regions, anti-jobs and anti-resources agenda will continue to hurt Queensland.

“We want a thriving resources industry to create jobs but the only job Annastacia Palaszczuk cares about is her own.

“Her government is in crisis, her leadership is in tatters and she can’t be trusted to create jobs.”

LNP Shadow Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Dale Last said the Palaszczuk Labor Government is full of lies, delays and excuses.

“The wall-to-wall Labor MP’s in North Queensland have been missing in action and Annastacia Palaszczuk doesn’t have a plan for Queensland,” Mr Last said.

“We have one of the worst unemployment rates in the country and she’s done absolutely nothing about it.

“Today’s decision is a positive step forward but it should have been done a long time ago.”
