Labor’s missing Bradfield report

15th November 2021

The State Government has broken an election promise, raising serious questions about the security and certainty of the state’s water sources.

The State Government has failed to deliver a full feasibility study for the Bradfield Scheme as was promised one year ago.

Shadow Minister for Water and Construction of Dams Deb Frecklington said this failure was more proof Labor doesn’t take water security seriously.

“In September 2020 the State Government said this report would be done within a year,” Ms Frecklington said.

“Where is it?

“Labor has missed their own target.

“Water restrictions are on our doorstop and the State Government’s lack of long term planning is coming back to the haunt them.

“As more people move to Queensland, the government should be focused on water security both now and into the future.

“As we plan for the 2032 Queensland Olympics, water infrastructure must be a top priority.

“Water is the lifeblood of regional Queensland communities.

“This proves that Labor cannot be trusted to deliver water projects in Queensland.

“They are all talk and no substance.

“The Minister for Water needs to show some leadership and tell Queenslanders what plans they have for water security, where dams will be built and when the Bradfield Scheme feasibility study will be release to the public.”
