Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has welcomed the arrival of two new police officers to Kilcoy, doubling the town’s permanent frontline police presence from two officers to four.
From October 3, Kilcoy Police Station will have four full-time officers serving the community, strengthening policing across the region and providing greater support for local residents as the Somerset continues to grow.
The increase forms part of the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to rebuilding Queensland’s police service, with more than 2,100 new police sworn in and Queensland’s frontline workforce now exceeding 13,000 officers.
Mrs Frecklington said the increase was a great outcome for Kilcoy and the surrounding communities.
“Doubling the number of permanent police officers at Kilcoy is a fantastic result for our local community and the wider Somerset region,” Deb said.
“As our region continues to grow, it’s important that police resources grow with it.
“Local families deserve a strong and permanent frontline police presence, and these additional officers will help ensure that support is there when it’s needed.” Said Deb
The additional officers will work alongside specialist Queensland Police Service units including the Criminal Investigation Branch, Child Protection and Investigation Unit, Highway Patrol, Scenes of Crime, Dog Squad, Rural and Stock Crime Squad, and Intelligence Office
