Coominya’s new Community Garden officially open

19th October 2017

Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington, has officially opened the brand new BVP Community Garden in Coominya.

Mrs Frecklington joined with Director of the Brisbane Valley Protein (BVP), Selena Gommersall, to celebrate with neighbours of the project.

“Initially, neighbours of the project from West Road will have access to the garden as the project enters this first stage. Not only will they be able to grow their own wonderful fresh produce, but it will be a social hub, helping people to connect and enjoy the many benefits of physical and social activity,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“Over time, the garden will be opened to the wider community and will become a great resource for the Coominya district.

“Community gardens have seen enormous success in so many communities and I have no doubt this Coominya project will be equally successful.

“Local schools will also be a part of growing this Community Garden, which will expand across approximately two hectares.

“I’d like to congratulate Brisbane Valley Protein on this very first stage of their larger project.

“It is literally just a taste of things to come for this exciting project in Coominya,” she said.
