Labor brings forward a tax on all Queenslanders

20th April 2018

Liberal National Party Leader Deb Frecklington today said Queenslanders have every right to be angry at Labor’s new fast-tracked waste tax – a blatant money grab with no detail and no thought.

"The Palaszczuk Government’s knee-jerk decision to will rush through a waste tax, with no details and no consultation, shows Labor is making it up as they go along," Ms Frecklington said.

"Let’s be frank, the only place that has a waste problem, whether it is dumping recycling in landfill or interstate waste dumping, is Ipswich.

"In Annastacia Palaszczuk’s first term, Ipswich Council and former Labor Mayor Paul Pisasale turned waste into a cottage industry.

"Under the LNP, interstate waste dumping was actually dropping because we enforced compliance.

"Labor created this mess but instead of cleaning it up, their solution is yet another tax.

"This will be the Government’s fifth new tax – that’s one for every month since the election.

"The only thing Labor recycles is excuses. The only vision Labor has for Queensland is more taxes."
