Premier’s lies over unions in schools exposed

16th October 2018

Annastacia Palaszczuk is lying to Queensland parents over a plan to allow unions into state school classrooms, the LNP said today.

The Premier has repeatedly denied that the Queensland Council of Unions had requested access to schools from the State Government to run ‘education’ programs.

But RTI emails released today show that the senior policy adviser to Education Minister Grace Grace helped the QCU fine-tune a program script, presentation and school information pack a month before the Premier’s public denials.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk has shamefully misled the public over her government’s involvement in a blatant union recruitment campaign,” Ms Frecklington said.

“Not only was Labor aware of the proposal – it was actually advising the QCU on its content.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk won’t come clean on this issue because she knows unions have no place in our schools. Schools are for education, not indoctrination.”

Shadow Education Minister Jarrod Bleijie said Annastacia Palaszczuk had been caught covering up the truth.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk lied to Queenslanders when she said there had been no proposal from the QCU given to the Government,” Mr Bleijie said.

“The second most senior adviser in Grace Grace’s office was actually polishing the propaganda in the QCU’s proposal.

“We asked the Premier to have the Director-General investigate the matter and she refused.

“It’s another example of Annastacia Palaszczuk’s culture of cover-up and secrecy.”
