Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington is proud to confirm that the Crisafulli Government is delivering on its commitment to upgrade the Back Creek Bridge on the New England Highway at Cooyar.

Following the completion of minor safety works at Cooyar, planning for the Back Creek Bridge upgrade is now complete.

The upgrade will provide two traffic lanes on Back Creek Bridge, improve the New England Highway and Cooyar–Rangemore Road intersection, deliver safety upgrades at McDougall and Fergus Streets, and enhance heavy‑vehicle stopping areas through Cooyar.

“This project has been a priority for our community for many years, and I have been fighting for this upgrade since 2017. Planning is now complete, and detailed design work is underway so construction can begin” said Deb

“These works will improve safety, support economic growth and strengthen liveability for locals and freight operators who rely on this key route”

“I want to thank the Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Brent Mickelberg, for travelling the road with me to see firsthand the safety issues that need addressing” Deb said.

Technical investigations, including surveys, soil sampling and cultural heritage assessments, are now underway as we move toward construction. This is an important step in building a safer, more resilient road network for our region.
