Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington recently welcomed four outstanding QUT students from Cherbourg to Queensland Parliament, recognising their achievements and leadership.
Sienna Murray, Mia Sandow, Katie Langton and Jennakye Simpson are leading by example – showing their community what can be achieved through education, determination, and vision. Their visit highlights the strength of emerging leaders from Cherbourg and the positive impact they are making both locally and beyond.
“These students are a powerful reminder of the talent and potential within our regional communities” Deb said.
“By pursuing higher education and stepping into leadership roles, they are inspiring others in Cherbourg to see what’s possible.”
“I want to thank Premier Crisafulli for taking the time to speak with the students and encourage them on their journey as emerging leaders. It was also wonderful to have Mayor Bruce Simpson join us for this special occasion” said Deb.
The visit gave the students an opportunity to engage directly with Queensland’s democratic processes and see firsthand how decisions are made that shape the future of their communities.
Adding to the excitement, Jennakye Simpson will return to Parliament next week as a participant in the Eric Deeral Youth Parliament- a leadership and professional development program for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland aged 18–25.
