Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington is inviting communities to have their say on safety improvements along a high-risk section of the D’Aguilar Highway that was long overlooked by the former Labor government.

Community feedback is being sought to help identify priority locations for safety upgrades between Nanango and Blackbutt, a stretch that has recorded a high number of serious injury crashes in recent years.

Safety concerns on the D’Aguilar Highway were long overlooked by the former Labor Government, despite the corridor playing a vital role in regional connectivity, freight movement and daily travel for local communities.

This planning project, funded under the Crisafulli Government’s Transport System Planning Program, places community input at the centre of decision-making, ensuring local knowledge, in combination with known crash data, helps guide future safety upgrades. Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the upgrades were part of the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to making travel and roads safer for Queenslanders.

“I am so proud that the Crisafulli Government is delivering these crucial improvements to ensure Queenslanders have safe roads to travel to home, school and work,” Deb said.

“This is all part of our government’s plan to make Queensland safer by delivering reliable roads regional communities deserve.”

“This planning work is about listening to locals so future projects deliver real results that reduce the risk of serious crashes and protect lives on this key inland route that links the Bruce Highway with the Bunya Highway.” Said Deb

Consultation is open until 20 March 2026. Road users are encouraged to share feedback by visiting https://www.yoursay-projects.tmr.qld.gov.au/daguilar-highway-network-safety-business-case-planning-project
