Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington, has welcomed the announcement that the Crisafulli Government’s new Country Roads Connect program is set to deliver real outcomes for the South Burnett and Cherbourg regions.

Under the first round of funding, 22 regional roads across 22 Council areas will receive much-needed upgrades – with the South Burnett Regional Council and Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council among the successful recipients.

The Country Roads Connect program is designed to support regional Queensland by partnering directly with local councils to deliver targeted upgrades to unsealed and under-maintained roads.

“Our rural and remote communities have been overlooked for too long by the former Labor Government – this investment is about putting them back on the map”.

“I’m delighted to confirm that Memerambi Barkers Creek Road in the South Burnett and Murray Road in Cherbourg will both benefit from this program,” Deb said

“We’re backing our local councils – the people who know their roads best – to make smart, local decisions that respond to the real needs of their communities”

“The Country Roads Connect Program reflects the LNP’s strong commitment to listening to the regions and ensuring that infrastructure investment flows beyond the south-east corner” said Deb

Country Roads Connect is about working collaboratively with our local Councils – delivering safer, more dependable roads that support families, producers, and small businesses across our communities.
