The 2025 Queensland Sport Awards have highlighted the outstanding contributions of athletes, volunteers, and innovators across the state. This year, two locals from Kingaroy were recognised on the big stage for their remarkable achievements.
Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington, congratulated local champions Christopher Sarquis and Stephanie Bofinger, who were both honoured at the 2025 event.
Christopher Sarquis, President of the Kingaroy Golf Club, was named Queensland Sport Volunteer of the Year.
“His passion and leadership have helped make the club a welcoming space for all — an accolade well deserved,” said Deb.
Also recognised was Fempro Armour, winner of the Queensland Sport Innovation of the Year (Multisport Innovation). Proudly made in Kingaroy, this world‑first gear is designed to protect and empower women in contact sports, helping athletes play with confidence while reducing the risk of injury.
“Congratulations to Steph, whose vision and determination have changed the game for women in sport.”
“While many of us will recognise the big names honoured, these awards are also a chance to celebrate the dedicated people working behind the scenes.” Deb said.
Queensland has long been the home of sport in Australia, and the athletes, teams, volunteers, and officials recognised represent the very best of the 1.2 million Queenslanders who participate in sport every year.
