Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington is encouraging Queensland primary school students to get creative and help spread an important message, with the launch of the 2027 Farm Safety Calendar competition.
The initiative highlights the importance of staying safe on farms and in rural communities, while empowering young Queenslanders to play an active role in raising awareness.
Twelve artworks created by students will be selected for inclusion in the 2027 calendar, with each piece representing a different farm safety theme for its respective month.
“In the last decade, the Nanango electorate has produced an impressive 12 winners in this competition, highlighting our strong community focus on farm safety education,” Deb said.
“The annual calendar plays an important role in raising awareness about farm and rural safety hazards among primary school students, their families and the wider community.
“Building awareness early helps ensure young Queenslanders can recognise risks and stay safe, wherever they go.
“Farms are incredible places, but they also come with real risks, and this competition is a great way to encourage children to think about safety in a practical and creative way.” Said Deb
More than 40,000 copies of the 2027 calendar will be printed for statewide distribution.
The competition is open to Queensland primary school students from Prep to Year 6 until 31 August 2026. The 12 winning entrants will each receive a $250 gift card, with their school awarded $500.
