Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington is pleased to share the welcome news that disaster assistance has now been activated for primary producers across the South Burnett and Gympie region following last week’s weather event.

Primary producers in the local government areas of Gympie and South Burnett can now access grants of up to $75,000, concessional loans of up to $2 million, and freight subsidies of up to $5,000.

“This vital aid for our primary producers is testament to the Crisafulli Government’s determination to see them back up and running as soon as possible,” Deb said.

“While it’s encouraging to see support arrive swiftly, it’s important to acknowledge the stress, loss and disruption so many producers are still working through”

“This assistance won’t erase the hardship, but it will help ease the path to recovery” said Deb.

All assistance is delivered under the joint Commonwealth – State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). Funding can be used for a wide range of recovery and operational needs, including clean‑up, repairs, wages, rent or rates, replanting, and essential supplies such as fuel or water.
