Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington is pleased to announce a sharp drop in electricity costs is on the way for regional Queenslanders, with new draft prices showing meaningful relief for households and small businesses after years of rising bills.
The Queensland Competition Authority’s latest draft determination confirms a 9.7% decrease in electricity costs for regional households and 11.3% decrease for regional small businesses. These reductions follow the projected double‑digit price drop already announced for South-East Queensland customers under the Default Market Offer.
“Under the Labor government power prices surged year after year – including a 19.9% increase in a single year – placing enormous pressure on families and businesses,” said Deb
“The new draft prices show that the Crisafulli government Energy Roadmap and Electricity Maintenance Guarantee are beginning to deliver the stability and affordability Queenslanders were promised”
“The new Crisafulli government said we would deliver affordable and reliable electricity – and now power bills are set to drop by around 10% across every part of Queensland” Deb said
These draft prices are an encouraging sign that Queensland’s long‑term energy plan is working, and that households and businesses can finally look forward to meaningful cost‑of‑living relief.
