Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has welcomed new electricity price reductions and is urging retailers to pass on the full savings to South-East Queensland customers from 1 July.
The Queensland Competition Authority’s (QCA) final determination has confirmed electricity costs will drop, delivering much-needed relief for households and small businesses.
The Crisafulli Government is ensuring its policies are delivering real cost-of-living relief and is now calling on electricity retailers to do their part by passing these savings on to Queenslanders. Customers are also encouraged to shop around for the best deal.
“Families and small businesses are doing it tough, and they deserve to see every dollar of these savings flow through to their power bills,” Deb said
“While electricity pricing arrangements differ in Southeast Queensland, there is a clear expectation that retailers will do the right thing and pass on these reductions in full.”
“After years of rising energy costs, this is a positive step toward putting downward pressure on power bills and supporting Queenslanders,” said Deb.
While the Government is driving down costs through its Energy Roadmap and Electricity Maintenance Guarantee, it is essential retailers follow suit and ensure households and small businesses benefit fully.
This comes after power prices surged by 19.9 per cent in a single year under the former Labor Government. These latest reductions demonstrate that the Government’s plan is beginning to put downward pressure on electricity prices, as promised.
