Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington, is proud to announce the Crisafulli Government is backing Queensland innovators and entrepreneurs through the latest rounds of the Ignite Ideas Fund and the Ignite Spark Program – with Kingaroy’s own Fempro Armour set to receive a $75,000 funding boost.
The Ignite Spark Program provides support for innovation driven businesses to develop new products or services and prepare them for customer trials. The program helps early stage companies accelerate development, scale their ideas, and bring cutting edge solutions to market.
Founder of Fempro Armour, Stephanie Bofinger, has been a passionate advocate for ensuring women can stay in sport longer, safer, and stronger. Steph has developed a world first prototype for cricket protective gear designed specifically for female physiology, functionality, and impact performance that will assist female cricket players at all levels.
Mrs Frecklington said the funding demonstrates the Government’s commitment to supporting regional innovators.
“Innovation can be a tough space for early stage businesses, and this funding helps bridge the gap by giving them the resources to keep moving forward,” Deb said.
“By accelerating the journey from prototype to market ready product, we’re helping local businesses grow, compete, and reach new markets. This support leads to new jobs, stronger industries, and more opportunities right across Queensland.”
This round of Ignite funding showcases Queensland innovation at its best, with recipients developing everything from a world first blood test to predict postnatal depression and female designed cricket armour, to rail safety detection technology and AI systems to reduce bird strike risks at airports.
