Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington wants to remind families of the Crisafulli Government’s strong commitment to tackling bullying in Queensland schools, ensuring students have the safe and supportive learning environments they deserve.

The Crisafulli Government introduced a comprehensive suite of measures designed to prevent bullying, strengthen school culture, and ensure students feel safe. Key initiatives include:

  • Parent Helpline – A seven‑day‑a‑week hotline staffed by trained counsellors, available from 6am to midnight on 1300 301 300, with a webchat option also available. More information at parentline.com.au
  • Rapid Support Squad – Dedicated support staff deployed to bullying hot spots.
  • More Chaplains and Wellbeing Staff – A $12.7 million investment over three years to boost wellbeing support in schools.
  • Anti‑Bullying Stakeholder Advisory Group – Providing expert guidance to shape ongoing measures that protect students and empower educators.
  • Professional Development – Enhanced training to better equip teachers, teacher aides and support staff to identify and respond to bullying.

Mrs Frecklington said the challenges facing young people today are vastly different from those experienced by previous generations.

“As a parent, I’ve seen firsthand how much school has changed,” Deb said.

“Our kids are growing up in a world that is faster, more connected, and more complex than anything we experienced. With that comes new pressures – and they need stronger support than ever before.”

“These supports are about giving young people the kind of help that simply wasn’t available in years gone by, restoring confidence for parents and creating school environments where students can learn without fear.”

The Crisafulli Government’s plan is part of the broader commitment to strengthening Queensland’s education system and ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive.
