Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington was proud to bring Minister for Environment and Tourism Andrew Powell to the beautiful Bunya Mountains to see first-hand the completed upgrades to the Dandabah picnic area.
The Crisafulli Government has delivered a major upgrade at the Bunya Mountains National Park, improving facilities and enhancing the experience for the approximately 200,000 people who visit the park each year.
The Dandabah picnic and camping area now features an elevated boardwalk, wheelchair accessible barbecue area, upgraded carpark, and a visitor information hub with interpretative content.
Local MP Deb Frecklington said the completion of the upgrade was a significant win for the local community and thanked the Bunya Mountains community for their patience throughout the construction period.
“The Bunya Mountains is a special place for both locals and visitors, and the upgrades to Dandabah will only enhance the iconic national park even further,” Deb said.
“This project strengthens the South Burnett’s appeal as a unique destination for eco-tourism and encourages more people to visit, explore and enjoy our region.”
Minister for the Environment and Tourism Andrew Powell said the upgrades would ensure the national park remained a premier destination for ecotourism.
“These upgrades are about protecting a world‑class natural asset and positioning the South Burnett as a standout ecotourism destination,” Minister Powell said.
The project is part of Destination 2045, a 20-year plan guiding the future of tourism and strengthening Queensland’s ecotourism offerings.
