Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington is proud to announce that Year 10 will return to Yarraman State School from 2027, delivering a major win for local families.

At present, many students travel to Nanango State High School to complete their senior years – often passing directly through Yarraman to do so. This commute places extra pressure on families, including transport costs and the need to purchase new uniforms for what may be just one additional year of schooling.

Both Yarraman and neighbouring Blackbutt continue to experience steady population growth, strengthening the case for expanded local schooling options.

“The return of Year 10 reflects the changing needs of the region. The community asked, and I’m proud to deliver this outcome for local families,” Deb said.

“Our community has grown and so have the expectations of local families. This change gives students the choice to continue their education in a familiar, supportive environment.”

Mrs Frecklington thanked Education Minister John Paul Langbroek for supporting the community’s request and ensuring the needs of local families were clearly heard.

The decision follows clear feedback from the P&C and the school leadership team, which informed broader community consultation. Yarraman State School has recorded strong Year 9 enrolments, and existing infrastructure is capable of supporting additional classes.

Year 10 will be reinstated at Yarraman State School from the start of the 2027 school year.
