"She led a very full and successful life and was so-loved for her kindness, her genuine concern and care for others, her common sense and down-to-earth approach to life.

"Rest-in-peace Lady Flo. You were a rock of our community and will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered. I will always cherish your support and guidance."

Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington, has delivered an early Christmas present to Nanango local, Jakeb Dugdell who was one of four successful applicants in Round 4 of her Local Hero Grants program.

Mrs Frecklington said Jakeb will receive $250 to help him in his pursuit of becoming a professional BMX rider and potentially attending the 2020 Olympic Games.

"I am really happy to be helping Jakeb in his journey to become an elite athlete. I know that he has already represented Australia recently in China at the World Championships for BMX riding and I think he has a very bright future ahead," Mrs Frecklington said.

"My Local Hero Grants are about supporting local people like Jakeb to attend major sporting events, as well as providing access to funding for community groups who need that little bit of extra assistance to run their event or purchase a small piece of equipment.

"The other successful Clubs in Round Four are the Goomeri Lions Club for their annual Christmas Carnival, the Toogoolawah Christmas Tree and the Esk Community Christmas Tree. These clubs are using their $250 grants to help run their annual Christmas events and I’m so pleased I could help brighten Christmas for the people in these towns.

"These are small, but meaningful grants designed to recognise and reward our quiet achievers.

Round 5 of Deb’s Local Hero Grants will close on 31 March to be announced in early April. Head to Deb’s website at www.debfrecklington.com.au for details of how to apply.

Statement from LNP Leader Deb Frecklington

13th December 2017

I am incredibly humbled and honoured to have been elected leader of the Liberal National Party.I am grateful to my colleagues for their trust and confidence.

I am also extremely pleased that Tim Mander will be my Deputy.

As the new leadership team, we are under no illusions of the work we must do to rebuild faith with Queenslanders.

But with the election of Tim and I – we have pressed the reset button.

I am in politics to help make people’s lives better and nothing else.

It is not about us, it is all about you.

Queenslanders have spoken at the last two elections and as a party we must listen, regroup and rebuild faith in the LNP as the only party that can deliver for Queensland.

I was raised in a family where you didn’t just sit back, complain and expect others to create opportunities and solve problems. You get out and do something about it.

Under Annastacia Palaszczuk, we have the second worst unemployment in the country, Labor can spin the figures as much as they like but until Queensland is number one – it just isn’t good enough.

I can assure Queenslanders that I take a no-frills attitude to politics and with me, what you see is what you get.

With that in mind, I want to say just one thing to Annastacia Palaszczuk and Labor – it is game on.
