Media Statement: LNP Shadow Health Minister John-Paul Langbroek - Health Ombudsman

1st November 2017

“Labor's do-nothing Health Minister has again been exposed for not being on top of his portfolio.

“This isn't the first time critical health matters have been either ignored or missed by Labor's do-nothing Health Minister.

“Today's suspending of the Health Ombudsman is just another example of Labor blaming everyone but itself for the ongoing crisis in Queensland Health.

“It was only in February this year after months of a crisis unfolding at the Mental Health Review Tribunal that Labor's Cameron Dick finally acted at the eleventh hour, blaming and then sacking the president of the tribunal.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk and her Health Minister have ignored crisis after crisis in our health system and this latest revelation is more evidence of how damaging a do-nothing government can be.

“Whether it is the explosion in ambulance ramping, bed shortages at hospitals or failing to take action on serious health complaints, Queenslanders cannot trust Labor to manage our health system.

“Last week the LNP called for an overhaul of the way drugs were dispensed in the wake of the Mater case and Labor's blame and sack approach to the crisis confirms the system is broken.

“The real question is when did Cameron Dick first get briefed on this matter and why wasn't he asking the right questions sooner.

“Only the LNP will deliver a better health system for Queensland families.”
