Lady Cilento name change disgracefully upheld by Labor

1st May 2019

LNP Leader Deb Frecklington has today condemned the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s decision to enshrine the Lady Cilento name change in law.

“Labor are arrogant and out of touch and Queenslanders will never forget this scandal,” Ms Frecklington said.

“Today Labor delivered their final blow by sticking by their ridiculous decision to rename the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

“This is a shameful dishonouring of a very prominent and well-respected person – Lady Phyllis Cilento.

“The Palaszczuk Labor Government is prioritising branding issues over patient care and it’s a sick political game.

“Labor’s number one priority for the health system is wasting taxpayers’ money on changing a hospital name in Brisbane.”

LNP Shadow Minister for Health Ros Bates said the Government’s priorities are all wrong and Steven Miles should be sacked.

“Time and time again, Steven Miles has proven he’s fraud, a phoney, and a failure” Ms Bates said.

“Steven Miles should be focusing on the 28 per cent of kids going to the Lady Cilento emergency department who aren’t seen on time.

“The elective surgery wait time is almost 50% higher than the state-wide average.

“Queensland’s hospitals are suffering because Labor continues to waste taxpayers’ money.

“The Lady Cilento name change will forever be a hallmark of Annastacia Palaszczuk’s health failures.”
