Health Minister caught misleading Queenslanders

16th June 2022

The Health Minister has blatantly misled Queenslanders.

This is either extreme incompetence or deliberate deception.

Either way the Health Minister must provide a full explanation to Queenslanders.

For weeks, the Palaszczuk Government crowed about how well Sunshine Coast University Hospital was performing with only 18% of patients being ramped, when in reality they were using false figures.

The truth is it’s more than double that number.

The Health Minister had actually switched the ambulance ramping figure for Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) with the ramping figure for the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

The Health Minister had muddled up her hospitals.

Worse, the Health Minister had families thinking 40% of young patients were being ramped at the Queensland Children’s Hospital. What an absolute disgrace.

The Health Minister can’t even get her basic facts straight.

How can Queenslanders possibly trust the Palaszczuk Government when they can’t even get their hospitals right?

What other errors are there with the state’s health data?

This data is used to make key decisions for our health system. Details matter.

This affects resources, this affects our hospitals.

When it comes to managing the health system we have never seen a government more untrustworthy than the Palaszczuk Government.

Queenslanders deserve so much better than this.
